Video Poker and its History

A short history and information on the Video Poker game. Video poker first became commercially viable once it was economical to combine a television-like monitor with a solid state central processing unit. The earliest models appeared at the same time as the first personal computers were produced, in the mid-1970s, although they were rather primitive by today's standards.

Video Poker became more firmly established when IGT (now a market-leading provider of gaming devices) brought out Draw Poker in 1979.

Throughout the 1980s, Video Poker became increasingly popular, as people found the devices less intimidating than playing at the tables.

Today, video poker enjoys a prominent place on the gaming floors of many casinos, and the game is especially popular with Las Vegas locals, who tend to patronize off-Strip properties for the better odds offered by those establishments. There are different type of video poker games offered at land based casinos. The latest one with a large success have been the Multi-Hand Video Poker Games, where the player starts with a base hand of five cards, and each additional played hand draws from a different set of cards with the base hand removed. (Multi-hand games are offered in "Triple Play", "Five Play", "Ten Play", "Fifty Play" and even "One Hundred Play" versions.)

The Multi-Hand Video Poker Games created a lot of excitement to regular casino goers and this is one of the main reasons why our sponsoring casinos are offering Multi-Hand Video Poker "As Seen In Vegas" to target land based players.

One more time, our sponsoring casinos are taking another set of popular land based casino games and offer the same excitement offered in Vegas.

Their popular multi-hand video poker games are:

** Aces and Faces -- $ 80,000 Max Jackpot
** Deuces and Joker -- $200,000 Max Jackpot
** Deuces Wild -- $ 80,000 Max Jackpot
** Double Joker -- $ 80,000 Max Jackpot
** Jacks or Better -- $ 80,000 Max Jackpot
** Joker Poker -- $100,000 Max Jackpot
** Tens or Better -- $ 80,000 Max Jackpot
** Mega Multi Deuces Wild -- $100,000 Max Jackpot

The above games are available at English Harbour, SuperSlots and Millionaire Casino.
