Gambling and Betting Systems

Gambling and betting systems can be clever depending upon whether they are based on a thorough understanding of the specific game.

Both the bogus and the more trusted systems of gambling and betting are in actuality perceptions of probability. The idea being that an occurance (the winning) must take place when it becomes overdue or has not occured for some time. Many gamblers have devised their own betting systems, often described as the 'gambler's fallacy'; better explained as perhaps the 'gambler's delusion'.

Gambling systems are usually divided into two groups - the negative progression system and the positive progression system.

The 1-3-2-6 System is positive progression system in both gambling and in money management betting systems and is therefore similar to the Paroli System.; the difference being that this betting system is based on the premise that you can win four times in a row.

In playing or betting with this particular system, your first wager is 1 unit (1), your second wager is 3 units (3), your third wager is 2 units (2), and your fourth wager is 6 units (6); hence, the origin of the name of this strategy: 1-3-2-6.

You can make a ‘unit’ anything you like and that’s why this betting system is very suitable to any pocket.

The D'Alenbert system is negative progression system, and is a mixture of the Martingale and Insurance system. It is also a money management betting system.

This is a mixture of Martingale and Insurance systems. Bets are raised one unit after each losing bet and lowered one unit after each winning bet. The sequence and amount raised or lowered can be varied to suit particular games and odds.

The Labouchere System is a negative progression system, It has many variations and is also called the 'Cancellation' system. In its simplest form, you write down a series or a set of numbers; say, 1 2 3 4 5 6. The series can be short or long and does not necessarily have to be sequential (sequential example: 1 1 4 4 7 5). Depending on the type of game you are playing and the odds being bet, a particular series would be have to be thought out and applied.

The La Bouchere System in reverse is a positive progression betting system. Add winnings to the sequence instead of losses. If you win, add one number (the winning units) to the end of the series. If you lose, delete the two outside numbers. Put an appropriate target of, say, 20 units profit for 'even money' bets (less for higher odds), and when reached begin another sequence. Sequence commencement is 1,2,3,4 so you risk only 10 units per sequence.

The Martingale System is a negative progression system, the oldest known betting system as well as extremely simple. It was originally developed for play on the even chance bets on a roulette table but can be used on any even chance bets of other games. Although developed for gambling, the Martingale money management methods can easily be used for trading.

Although there are many variations of the Martingale system, in its most common form, you double the bet after each losing bet until a winning trade occurs. That final winning bet after a string of loses will replace all the previous lost money plus give you a profit equal to your original bet. It does not matter how many losing bets occurred as long as you double each bet after a loss eventually you must win.

The Parlay system is a positive progression system betting that functions on the principle of making a bet and if you win, you then re-invest the winnings on the next bet. In effect, you are letting your bet ‘ride’ (Let It Ride). Due to the strategy involved, there is a certain amount of tension that you will feel whilst adopting the system in real gambling.

The Parlay betting system strategy is used both in money management, sport betting and in gambling both online and in brick and mortar casinos. This system of betting is commonly used in sports gambling and in horse racing betting.

The Paroli Gambling System is a ‘Positive Progression’ gambling and betting system. A player starts off with betting one unit only. If the player wins the first bet, the player then increases their next bet. This principle is what defines is as a ‘positive progression betting system’ of gambling.

The Paroli system is a gambling strategy both for online gambling and gambling in brick and mortar casinos as well as it is a money management betting system. It is one up from the Parlay system in that, rather than just leaving the original bet to ‘ride’, the Paroli System involves also adding the original bet stake on top of that.

Negative progression systems are systems that use raised bets after losses. Simply stated, in a negative progression system, the player increases his or her bet when losing. This system technically requires a sizeable bankroll and is based on the theory that after losing there must come winning. The player approaches the game with the opinion that he or she will eventually win, no matter how many losses were experienced prior to that final win.

The negative progression system is often called ‘pyramiding’. It can be a nerve-wracking manner of trying to win at a gambling game which explains why any player wanting to experiment with the system must ensure that they can take a final loss if not successful in using it. Naturally, the manner in which the game is played requires that a player steadily increase their bet after each loss.

The Positive Progression System is a gambling system which is obviously the opposite to the ‘Negative Progression System’ of gambling. Instead of increasing the best when losing as in the negative gambling system, the player chooses to increase his or her bet when winning.

The best thing about the positive gambling system is that it does not require a big bankroll since it relies on winnings and is therefore the recommended system, if a player feels that they must try one of the systems at all. It is therefore technically stress free and relatively easy to play since a player does not place increased bets when losing and does not expose that player to experiencing heavy losses.
